I'm taking my 05 c6 a4 to the track for the first time Tommarrow i have track experience with manual cars but not auto from what I've found is leave it in 3 buy should I maybe give it some gas with the foot on the break to get a better launch or just let off the break then punch it ??

Yes I would leave it in 3 (aka: 'D') for now but as far as stalling it up a little at the line you're going to have to experiment to see which yields the better results. In most cases with a stock/factory torque converter you're going to find that leaving right at idle (but with maybe taking up a little of the 'slack' in the driveline) is the quicker way to a better sixty foot/ET.

Marc...
I leave at 1200 with my stock converter...and average around 1.895 - 1.925 for 60' in "normal air....
I spoke to Julio & will be bringing my car to him next week Sept 10 - 14 whichever day he has the time to have Roy do the complete Converter install with the cooler I asked for... I'm hoping he can do it Mon or Tue. so I can race Wed night at E Town they are having the $500 Bracket race
On 2nd thought, I may only run "Time Shots to get a "Baseline" with the new converter...
I'll have to delete all my old runs from my TAG and start a new database with the new converter....
Oh...BTW I NEVER leave it in "D" I always run it "3" so it don't shift into 4th gear if I let off at the top end...

I would think giving it a little RPMs would also help R/Ts when running on a pro tree as well.

When I say 'D' I do actually mean '3', I believe overdrive is labeled as OD or a 'D' with an 'O' around it.
Not sure if it actually says OD, 3, 2, 1 or OD, D, 2, 1 like some cars do.
