another track closing
Well tomorrow is the last Test and Tune for Old dominion raceway in Manassas Va. Its supposed to be the oldest continuous operating track east of the mississippi. They are closing the doors and going to build 3xx townhomes on the site. Really hate to see it go. Its about 2-3 miles from my home.

Just a little history on this, Around 2005-2006 they had a contract with a housing builder. Well the housing market crashed and the builder backed out of the contract. I guess the market is getting better now, so its back on.
The track owner, (according to a local newspaper article) has purchased 160 acres south on I95 at the thornburg exit. Plans to build a new track, however, the land is zoned agricultural, and zoning will have to be changed to commercial and then get approval for a racetrack.
Hope it works out, but Im not holding my breath that it will ever materialize.
