Default Torque converters

Now that my 44 Dana is getting done I always had a stock converter. Being that I am upgrading with the research I've been doing on the Internet looks like it will be a vigilante.

If there is any other suggestions let me know.

Being that my car is only about 300 hp what would be the best 2000 or up to a 3200 remember I am a E/PS I don't need to go over board.

Thanks.........96 CORVETTE

I've been using the Precision Industries Vigilante for years. Great company, same people running it for ages. I've got the 5 disk lockup for my C4 and lock it up after the 1-2 shift. I have around 1000 runs on this converter and am having it freshened up as I type this. I have my identical spare converter in the car now. The poor thing never gets any use. They stand behind their product and include 1 free stall change with the purchase.

Just got off the phone with them they have a 3500 converter with a 3 lock just hate to spend the money they are expensive but apparently they are the best. But if I'm going to do it I need to do it now before my racing season starts I only got a couple of days to think about it.

You might want to give Greg or Troy a call at FTI...they are located in Deland, Fl....their converters work, bar none...they come with a two year warranty and unlimited stall changes for a year...

You will never experience better customer support from anyone, anywhere...the number is 1-866-726-8358...btw, I ran their street/strip converter in my Camaro when I first got it and never missed a trick...I think it was $325.00, made for my car...when I went to the big motor I stepped up to an 8" billet 4700 stall...just over 700 asses so far and no issues...

I just upgraded again for my new glide to a 5000 stall...good luck buddy...

383 you got the wheels up pretty good on that vette what is your tires size and your converter that's got to be a 5000 do you go off a trains brake and what gear ratio do you have that thing looks bad ***.

My buddy Dino pretty much has the same setup that you have he runs in the 10.70s looks exactly the same.... You have to love the C4s.

Still not sure what type of converter I'm going to get yet still have a few days left.

I didn't know that C4's did that.

Thanks, My bracket C4 has a Strange 12 bolt rear with 4:33 gears. It has a 3400 stall converter footbraking at 2200 rpm and has run 10.36. Tires are MT ET Drags 15x11.5x28. I just changed manifolds from a SuperRam to a miniram and am having the converter loosened another 400rpm to take advantage of more power up top. I'm running on president's day and hopefully will come close to that time. Got a lot of tuning to do. Willie

Long story, but ran 10.40 and 10.41s still with the tighter converter. Running the new looser converter this weekend. If I break my pb (10.36) you'll see a post.

Sticking with the stock converter for now don't feel like spending the money..... If it's not broke don't fix it.

Their barometer was obviously asleep that day.

I'm using a torque arm similar to an F-body. The hard part was inside the car to provide a solid, strong mount for the transmission and the torque arm. My fabricator tied in the rollbar with a bar running from the side rails in front of each seat and sort of a monocoque arrangement inside the console area. Here are some pics.

Not sure if you were talking to me but if you go to Moser's website they have a new bolt-in rear subframe for a C-5 that is similar to what 383vette has under his. They have some great pix & maybe you could get a few ideas from that.

The only way I know to do it is whack the rear frame off & make your own, LOL. There are a few pix of my '80 in the Pro Stock Corvette thread on this board. Hope some of this helps & good luck!

Thanks, good to know. I had no idea what the 0-60 would be.
