I am starting a drag racing team. I have the experience and NAPA know how. I just need the funds. I want to find out the best way to get $85,000. I plan to run in the outlaw 10.5 series. Also, this will be a 4000hp vette C7 convertible. Whether it be from sponsorships, loans, or lending money, I would like to know whats the best way. I would be able to buy the car and the engine. I just need money for the trailer/truck, and other body upgrades that will reach 35-40K. I will be touring in the usa. I am in the air force so I have a sturdy job but I want to expand my horizons. Also how would I go about promoting to sponsors before I have started to upgrade the car. I plan to have the primary sponsor set at $200,000 a year then step down do about $40,000 a year for secondary sponsors. What would be a good primary sponsor package and secondary sponsor packages?
Anybody know how to raise money for a drag racing team? I would have a goal of 80000 dollars. Would it be better to take out a personal loan or buisness loan?

I'd like to invest in your "team". How big of a sticker can I put on your car?

I'm thinking about this investment opportunity also, I wouldn't even do it for a sticker, I just feel it would be cool to sponsor a 4000hp vette C7 convertible.
I think we can start by selling T-shirts and hats!
There are a few tribal lenders who offer unsecured term loans with APRs that can range from 89.68% to 342.86%, depending on the size of the loan. They may respond to such a request with a bit more enthusiasm than us poor ba5tards
Instead of going for this project , I have set my sights on a Texas mile car. 300mph vette. Look under the drag racing section and the thread is titled looking for sponsors. the outlaw 10.5 has a lot of rules. Mile and mile and a half cars don't. Plus it could bring in some major publicity. And bring another team to life. I also want to run the mile and and a half events. There are events like these all over.
We all have the $$ to buy the car and most of us have the $$ to build somewhat of race-able car or we wouldn't be in corvettes or racing them.
I've been trying to get a sponsor for 6 years...... I've been trying to go 9.99 for 6 years and I have T & A!!!!!!!!! So GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
I was told when I said I want to go 8.50-- go 13.0 first and work your way down little by little-- get in the winners circle and win events- get your name out there and get racing-- sponsors will come and recognize you if you can market yourself as a Winner who cuts a good light, has good sportsmanship and is able to bring in what sponsors are looking for.
6 years later I have a long list of people who said I can get my 9.99 in there car-- yet still run 11.50, still haven't' gotten my license to go 9.99 and still have no sponsors-- and I'm in the winners circle 90% of the times I race.
BTW if you were serious- the National Dragster magazine guys write how to get sponsored in every issue and it can be found online at the NHRA website.

Shey that had me laughing at my desk, thanks for the morning lift.
OP, you sound a little green to this and not sure what direction you want to take. I suggest you follow SheDevll's advice and just start some form of racing at least. Good luck to you in the future.
