Has anyone else encountered this? Apparently, I've hit a lifetime limit on PayPal and have been rewarded by no longer being able to use the service unless i let them directly link to my bank account or a sign up for a PayPal credit card. I'll never give them access to my bank account and would prefer not to have another credit card to manage. But what are the alternatives if you want to buy and sell on eBay???
How you been doin' stranger? I opened up another free checking account just for Paypal at my regular bank. I deposit enough in it for small buys and transfer from my normal acct. for larger purchases. Since you can do transfers on line and they don't have to clear like a check the money is in there instantly.
Or you can just send me cash and I'll take care of it for you!

I might have my wife open a PayPal account. It took me 10 years to reach the limit, so maybe I can get another 10 years. Either that or open some BS checking account to make them happy. What a PITA.
This is one sure way to lose a customer. I got the same notice.
Not only do they want all kinds of info they want the passwords to
the account.
If they expect me to use Ebay they better think of something else
or I will just use the internet and to bad Ebay/paypal.
To show you how dumb they are I had $1200 in a paypal account
and I could not pay with the account.
No problem I drained the account-------paypal--STUPID!!!!!
I tried signing up an account for my wife. They recognized the credit card # and wouldn't let me sign up. I tried using another credit card, but they still wanted all my bank account information. Given all the PayPal and eBay scams i've received, i'd never give them my bank account info. Someone will hack my info and drain my account, and i'd have no recourse. I feel a lot better using a credit card where I have some protection. I guess I'll probably have to sign up for their credit card, but will look to use PayPal a lot more sparingly.
Just after I posted this, I got an email from PayPal, telling me why i can't pay for my eBay item.
"Making sure our members are who they say they are is critical to making PayPal safer. That's why, for security reasons, there's an initial limit on how much money you can spend shopping with PayPal, or send to friends and family—until you give us a little more information about yourself."
NOW......after 10 years and thousands of dollars in transactions, they need to know more about me??? Yeah right. Reading between the lines, it says we've been hitting you up for 3% of your sales and now we want all the credit card fees too.
Well maybe new laws are being placed on them that requires them to get more info?. I haven't reached that limit, but at some point I listed an account and then my CC on there. I no longer have the checking account at the bank, but it's still listed on PP.
American Express has a service called Serv. I think there are no fees associated with using it, but I also think you need an Amex to open an account. Might be worth looking into.

I would call them. I am over $15,000 and have not received this yet. Send me a private message to let me know the magic number. If that is the case, I will be really pissed. I have a small business on ebay.
I dropped/closed up my Paypal account last year because I couldn't stand some of their business practices.
I'm back to 'old school' (you send the check/money order, when it clears I send the item out) with my online (non credit card payable) transactions now or I simply meet in person to sell/buy items.
