I'm sure this is somewhere in the forum but I've searched and searched and could not find an answer.
I have a 2002 C5 Vette with auto trans that is getting supercharged by ECS. What size drag radial can I put on the stock rim? My rear run flats are P275/40ZR18. I've used M&H on a previous car and they were fine but I would like to hear some recommendations from the experts. I have also checked dealers and other forums but can't seem to find the best tire size for my rims. I'm sure I am doing something wrong here.
Thanks,
Tony
I have an 05 .. it came with 19" rear wheels, so I bought a pair of 2004 Thin Spoke.. 18x9.5" wheels & I am using 305/35x18" Drag Radials.. I was using Nittos, but since I went to a high stall converter I needed a better griping tire, & went to MT .. same size.. they fit and work great !!
Thanks jpee. So, I will be able to use these on my stock rims? Do you have a drag radial that you prefer? I have used M&H and was thinking of getting Mickey Thompson.

Either of them are fine for you..now that you are SC you need a softer DR... like a MT or MH or even Hoosier is a good tire.. I liked the Nittos when I had my stock converter.. they would hook up EVERY time but my 60' time was only 1.88 - 1.90 once I put in the 2800 converter I would spin with the Nittos about 1/2 of the time ..but when they did HOOK my 60' times were 1.60 - 1.63
I switched to MT so I would HOOK 100% of the time as I only race for $$ I don't do TT or run for a personal best.. I just run in Pro.. or Mean Street.. at E Town or Lebanon Valley....
Check and see.. not all brands make DR in that (305/35x18") size...you may be able to use a 275/40x18" I have heard they work well also.. but I prefer the 305's and I "think" only Nitto & MT make that size...

Use the mickeys if you're gonna drive to the track. Hoosiers won't last. Get a set of stock front thinspokes, and the 275/40/17 will hold fine until your deep into the tens. He'll, I went 9's for years on them. What else besides supercharger are you doing...
Thanks for the info 2003vett. Right now I'm only doing the supercharger. I hope I will be able to run in the 11's with just the supercharger and drag radials. I really don't want to put a roll bar in the car.
I know jpee is a great racer and contributor on the forum. I will probably go with the Mickey Thompson 305/35x18 drag radial. I want to use the stock rims.
Similar to JP's size, I had used 295/35-18 BFG's on my 98 and they worked good until I built my 2003. The 98 ran 11.300 with 1.51 60ft times regularly but on the 2003 those tires just seemed to inconsistent. I was able to get a few 1.50's on the 295/18's but that was a track rental with "super" track prep, but on the same day with 275/40-17 Hoosier drag radials the car ran consistent 10.8's with 1.47 60ft times. The "stick" from the Hoosiers has been consistent at different tracks (2 in Jersey and 1 in Texas) but the Hoosiers are not street legal so changing them at the track is necessary. You may find the 18's good enough for you at Etown or Atco if you don't want to put in a bar and you keep the boost low enough. Come down and watch JP, myself and others at the Corvette Challenge at Etown and don't discount the recommendations of Tommy & the rest of the ECS crew.
I really appreciate the advice you all have given. It looks like now I am not definite on what drag radial to get. I will make a decision soon. I do hope to meet some of you at Englishtown and I would like to try some bracket racing but I think I need more info and experience. I'll be the old guy in the yellow 2002 with the glass roof.

If there is NO RAIN on Sat morning, and the roads are dry, I'll be there, however if the roads are WET I'm not going to take the chance of driving 100 miles on Drag Radials on WET roads....
If I'm there look for a LMB with NY plate ILLEGL with a VERY OLD man driving it... LOL..
