I've just joined the Forum and I think you guys are great. The willingness to help one another is extremely impressive!
Here are my questions:
After spending the ENTIRE DAY at the track (dont tell Chevrolet), I finally got a 12.88 @ 108. 60 foot times varied from a best of 1.975 to a 2.4 (ugh).
What are the best street tires for my application? I want to be able to launch on the street pretty much the same I can at the track.. is that possible? I've been thinking of getting 275 or 315 17's drag radials.. is there a huge traction difference?
More importantly, I need to factor in that I've also purchased an ATI Procharger. It (hopefully) should be installed within the next month. I'd like to purchase rear rims and tires once.. do you think the 315 drag radials will be sufficient? I saw one posting where a gentleman was going 9's on 275's..
Also.. is it just me or my car.. has anyone else missed 2nd while powershifting? (weird.. huh?)
From what you say, I'd go to 11" wide rear rims, & 315 Drag Radials.. if you plan on only going to the track a few times, then go with Nittos ..they will last a lot longer on the street, BUT, BFG's will give you better traction, however will not last as long & are very bad in wet weather..
Listen to either of these guys, they are the drag racing Guru's.
As far as tires, if you are putting a supercharger on, you may need the 315 drag radial. You'll never be able to launch on street tire.
If you are looking for strictly a street tire, get Michelin Pilots, they are a very good tire, long lasting and quite sticky when they warm up.
From your times, you are doing very well(what year is your car?).
