Launhing with an Automatic that has a shift kit
Well, the title says it all. How do I launch with an auto and shift kit? Do I shift the gears manually, if so is it okay to go to red line for a couple pf seconds?

I can't speak for the C3 transmission but I load the trans to about 2500 rpm he staging light and let 'er rip at the 3rd yellow :yesnod: A hi-stall torque converter helps...:D

foot brake it to 2200 and floor it when the third light comes on. Then shift it your self in all the gears. as for shift point, that you have to determine by practicing.

Other than the RPM you let it rip at I don't see why this would be any different than launchign with teh stock converter that said I say let the computer do the shifting, it is much faster than you can be. (I assume you have some kind of programing even jsut a hypertech to change shift points a and rev limiter a bit :D ) :chevy

it all depends on how your car is setup too.. for example, i have a 327 with a low end torque mid range hp cam, with 3.08 gears. the best launch i get is when i ease out of the hole in first and then stuff it once the car gets rolling.

when my brother launches his C4, he keeps it in drive, mashed the brake and only launches at 1000-1100 RPM. He rips almost everyone outta the hole.
