Hey guys this is the fastest car I've ever owned and I've never taken my previous cars to the track. After my engine is build and everything I should be around 800rwhp. I'm going to assume I should be somewhere on the 9-10 ET range. I read some of the NHRA rules and they started a 5 point harness and roll cage and window net among other things will be required. I just wanted to run it to see what it would do but really don't want to have to spend tons of money turning it into a race car. I know this might sound like a stupid question but what do you guys do, take it on the street or do the necessary mods.
I promise I'm not stalking you all over corvetteforum. I'm just not working very hard at work today. Given your limited dragstrip experience the track will humble you on your first outings. I would get a set of drag radials and go to HMP on a Sunday night. See if you get the bug before you spend all that money.
Ive run mid-low 10s at all the Houston tracks and never had anyone bat an eye at me. Also There are track rentals where tech is relaxed.

I've gotten three C6s into the high 10s making just over 400rwhp and I've gone 9.950 while making only 520rwhp.
With that said, having more HP doesn't always equate to better ETs as I've seen lots of high powered cars struggle to run 12s which is why one of my favorite sayings has always been "It's not about how much power you make but rather how effectively you get it to the ground".
Let me know if you want a full listing of everything I've had to do to my car to pass tech without issues.

Don't mind it at all Mike, full of good info today...thank you sir! I have M/T Street Radials on my car currently...how will those do you think? So the tech won't ask how much horsepower my car is and figure up about how fast it will go and then keep me from making a pass or do you think they'll let me make a pass and it's to fast they'll tell me to get all the necessary safety stuff? I really just want to go and see what it will run, don't care about beating anyone lol.
