Maple Grove Raceway, I am the first car out. No trans brake because I'm not sure how the car will launch. First pass hit hard and cut a 1.37 60' and a 10.31 @ 131. +1200 DA.
Second pass I say go on the brake and all hell breaks loose. Before I know it the shift light is on and I'm staring at sky. I try to ride through the light a little to let her come down but she keeps climbing. Hit the limiter and found second. The car comes down and hits hard. Mistake was trying to ride past the shift. Should have pulled it right away. As soon as it came down I coasted to a 12.2. Thanks to ARE for all the power, now I just need to figure out how to control it.
Long story short, I pulled a stock eliminator style launch and dented a header and cracked the oil pan. All-in-all, I'm happy that was all. Drove it on the trailer with only a very small oil leak. This could have been much worse.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that is a Wheelie! That is quite impressive.
You may want to cut some viewing holes in the floorboards so you can see where you are going. Either that or just convert it to a wheel stander.
:D
I went straight to the video before I read the post and realized that was YOUR car - man was that a big wheelie! They may go faster when they stay more ground level, but almost NOTHING compares to hanging them high and holding it up there. Glad to hear not much damage from the landing. When I went to the last Super Chevy event at Pomona they had the PSCA running as well. One of the PSCA racers, Mike "Stickman", runs an 8 second '57 Chevy - I watched on one run where he wheelied ~ 400 feet and still ran in the 9's.
Like was said above, get wheelie bars installed, then report back with what are sure to be impressive results.
