So, my thoughts are somethings up...maybe I'm getting false knock? Maybe I need to drop my fuel pressure and get an underdrive pulley? I dunno..you pros tell me.
Before you do any more mods try to figure out what is up. Have you tried to ditch the E.T. Streets? Personally I can't drive on them, I can run just as fast on my street tires. Those are some nice 60's though.
Some people complain about racing a dyno, I couldn't disagree more. It's an invaluable diagnostic tool and it will let me know if I'm wasting my time or not at the track. I would see about renting a dyno somewhere. Make some pulls and look at the A/F ratio throughout the run. See if and where the power starts to drop, etc. If there are any sudden drops it's probably knock. Try to retard the timing a little bit, etc.
A dyno is a wonderful thing and it's in a controlled environment. Make sure you are actually making the power you need before you go out and pound it at the track. You may find you are wasting your time at the track.
In my case I usually find that the car makes plenty of power and I just can't utilize it at the track. At least I know the car is healthy and I just need practice.
I'm not a pro by any means, but judging by your outstanding 60' time I would have to think your 1/4 mile times should be quicker.............maybe some type of tuning issue?
I COULD have. But I don't have my previous best timeslip anymore. I DO have my new one and here it is. (My previous best timeslip, all the #'s were just a little bit slower at each point)
If it matters, both times I just left the tranny in Drive (it shifts at 5k). I've tried shifting manually at 5200, but it doesn't seem to affect anything.
I would think weather plays a part also.
In my case, I did the gear change and torque converter(2800).
My best was a 13.37@102.5 stock, with the new setup, I only goyt a 13.35@101mph untill the weather started getting better. Currently, my new best is a 13.02@103.5MPH. a nice improvement, but I'm still not satisfied.
BTW, my 60' went from a best of 1.95 to a new best of 1.74 and again, I'm still not satisfied.
