Default First time write up.

I purchased my 2002 Z06 on here already modified with the purpose of purpose of just making me happy. I enjoy HPDEs and track days and the car has been modified as such. Coilovers and big sway bars but it does have a 408 that i had my tuner turn down to hopefully last a long while. Makes 460whp. I never had much interest in drag racing as my other fun car was a 99hp miata that ran 16.8 but a group of my friends convinced me to bring the vette out for a day of fun.

I showed up to the track early firday morning when it was 50 degrees and foggy. Not super promising but no rain so i was excited to make a pass. By the time tech was over the fog went away and the temp rose to 55 but the humidity was there. None of the real drag cars were out of the trailer yet. I pulled up to the staging lanes with my sumitomo HTR ZII tires on so i didint ruin my nitto NT01s before my track day this weekend at Pitt.

I baby the car off the line and then lay into it. Spin into 2nd but i managed a 12.4 my first pass ever. My goal for good weather was 12.5 so i was super happy! i run though the lanes 5 more times with varying times as i try new things and managed a 12.006 on the sumislowmos.

As i pull into the pitts within thousands of a 11 second pass my buddy has a set of Hoosier radials on 17x9.5 Z06 wheels he wanted me to try. I was hesitant due to my stock driveline but my quest for 11s won out as we tossed them on and i went to the lanes. I launched way softer than i could have but managed a 1.7 60' and a 11.6 for my first pass on slicks! My new goal was 11.49 to get kicked out but 1 more run and fear of killing my diff before a track day made me bog out off the line and only get a 11.7. I decided to call it a day while the car ran.

I am now shopping for mods that will allow me more confidence in launching the car in the quest for a 11.49 slip. Thanks for reading!

Welcome to CF, and good luck with the addiction! Very few have managed to escape its grasp.
