why is my best mph always on the 1st run ?
I was going through my slips and noticed that i always mph about 2mph faster on my first run to my last run even though my et's are within about .01 of a sec
ie 12.89 @ 107.7 first run to 12.905 @ 105.74 on my last visit.
Air temp was 57 deg all day, engine temp was about the same at 150 ish
and my 60' were within .01 of each other ?
Am i missing something ?

1st is the best
Prolly due to the car is nice n cool(I'd hope so anyway).? It could backfire on you though. Depending on when you run in the day(i.e. how hot the car is or the air) has a lot to do with it. Mine is always the second run(I haven't made more than two back to backs) for some reason. Different cars, different results.
Give it a try in November on a nice clear day with a hopefully well prepped track. You should be all smiles if things go right. There we're about 30 of us(on the low side) that ran new bests last fall on one of the last corvette challenges.

Mine gets faster, only if I make it through a few rounds of racing, then I break out when it counts  But if I dial low, the car slows down. Go figure....

Also traction is usually best on the first pass cause the track surface is not heated and balled up from having 1500 passes on it that day.

You can't really control for the track changing over the course of the day, but if you have some extra time to kill you might try letting the car cool off for a full hour after a couple of runs and see if you gain back the mph from your first run. MJ

My car is normally pretty consistent but you want to talk about strange.
I think my first run of the day is going to be the wost but after a 70+mile drive to the track I made my first run within 15mins of arriving and it was my 2nd best of the day a 13.183@103.10
my next 3 runs: a 13.22@103.10 (what I thought was really wierd is my mph at the 1/8mi. mark was also exactly the same as the first run) 13.333@103.24, 13.022@105.36, 13.43@102.84
as for the traction my best 60' was on the 13.02 run but 2nd best was again on the first run.

Re: why is my best mph always on the 1st run ? (nickd)
Yea thats what i mean. my 1/8 mile times vary a lot even though my 60's are close. they range from 83.23 to 86.3 mph I have only been to the track 3 times so far and all my " best " times are on different runs ???? I was looking for the secret to get all new bests on the same run as i felt i must be doing something wrong, although i am happing with the overal performance of the car.
