At what point do you start worrying about axle strength?
If everything goes slightly well, I'll be headed to the track May 6th with the new setup for the first time. I'm just curious as to when axles tend to start breaking?
My car is an 04 Z06. Cam and V3 making upper 600s at the tire. I have a TR6060/C6Z diff and will be leaving off of a two step on a 305/45/17 ET Street R.
I know wheel hop is the enemy of corvettes, all I care about is laying down a better time than my cousins hellkitty lol

I've made 500 passes same axles but any hint of wheel hop I let off ; never dynoed my car but prob right around 600 wheel ; I do have spare axles on me because it's a 15 minutes swap and I'd rather have and not need then need then not have;
it seems to me the softer the tire and right pressure(on lower side ) seems to be best !!!
Good luck I'll be on the hunt of demons

As for tires, you would be better served with a bias ply tire. They absorb shock much better than a DR; however, breakage can occur on any and all tires.

We have a NoET/Grudge day coming up around here and I wanna go have some fun and just wanted to make sure I wasn't in the land of no return. I'm not afraid to break stuff, but obviously don't wanna put myself in a situation where I know something will break

Yeah I know the bias ply would be better, but I spend more time roll racing than track racing and the ET Rs work great from a 60 hit.

Good luck.
Looking to have it ready sometime in June.

I always carry spare axles to the track with me. You never know when you, or some other racer, might need one. And they are quick to change out.
