Default That was a quick 2017 race season!

Hey everyone,
Well some of you know I've been fighting my C5 this year, it didn't want to play nice but after fighting valve float and hurt the trans cuz I'm stupid, it was time to get it to the track...

I finally listened to BTR and changed to a different cam with no so crazy lobe profiles and it fixed my valve float issue.
I smoked the clutches in my RPM 4L60e cuz I was being "too easy" on it honestly, in the tune I didn't command the trans to have full pressure at part throttle so as I rolled into it, it smoked it cuz it was slipping. I had RPM fix it and put a Sonnex drum and change 1st gear to a 2.84 and 2nd to a 1.55 - Most important changed the tune so it locks up basically anything off of idle now.

Had it redyno'd at to my surprise it was same power at a hair over 1000rwhp but less timing from 21 to 16 now and boost was 24 and now 21psi so I'm super happy.

I went to our local track and first shake down pass was a 1.28 60' and ran a 5.61 @ 126 - I was super stoked! Especially when I looked at the log and I wasn't WOT until about 2.5 seconds into the run.

Next pass I gave it all she had, it launched then BOOOOOM!!!! differential let go, after looking at the carnage I'd say the ring gear broke teeth off and obviously trashes everything at that point.... Good thing is my trans is ok, just junked the diff.

Soooo...... now I'm trying to figure out whether to go to a Powerglide and 9" conversion in back or just say **** on it and convert mine over to a solid rear like the Moser setup and trans behind the engine etc.

Nice to see you're still out there pushing your car.

Sucks about the diff. Done that too many times myself.

My biggest issue with the Moser setup is what to do with the exhaust.

9" is a nice option.

Capthuff,
Yes I agree, the exhaust would be a major problem......

Do you know of anyone who's done the Moser thing I could talk to?

Best bet is to call Moser directly. They've done a number of them and can give you the skinny on how to modify the tunnel for the trans and what to do for exhaust.

yeah I've been talking with them a lot the last couple of weeks, they haven't helped me out when it comes to the exhaust or how much to hack the tunnel etc.

Currently trying to get a hold of one of the customers that's done it.
