Palm Beach points Event...

I was up at 5AM and on the road at 6...gates opened at 8AM...weather was very nice, about 70 but quite windy...my first time shot was at about 9:30...I went 6.72 with a .007 tree...second time shot was not until about noon...very slow going and no oil downs either...sigh...I dropped my launch rpm 200 and went 6.76 with a .048 light...qwap!...
First round I dial 6.73 planning to go back up those 200 rpm...I ran a mustang dialed 6.70...I wanted to dial "same" but did not think I could get there...oops...we were even on the tree but I went 6.68 whomping to beat the band.....sheesh...walk of shame for me...
Second round I get a Mark VII lincoln dialed 9.60...I put 6.71 on my window figuring I am holding around 4...I tree him and go 1 over FTW...hmmmmmm...
Round three finds me against a bike dialed 5.80...I put 6.70 on the window...it was over at the tree with my .013 to his giant number...I park to go 6.75...they call us back up for round 4 within 5 minutes of me getting back to my pit...my car has not cooled off enough but I go back up...
I catch a buddy in his S-dime dialed 6.01...I put 6.72 on mine figuring I am holding around 3...I leave green and he does as well...I can see he is not going to reach me so I begin ripping...we both missed the tree with his .052 to my .048...I lead him through by .011 just as planned...WTH!...his win light comes on...turns out he went 5.99 but I went 6.68...my numbers showed I was heading for a 6.66...welcome to my pump gas world...fooey!...
This was to be a double race event but the second race got rained out...good thing because it was still a 16+ hour day...next up is Orlando on Saturday for $1500 to win...it is their first NHRA points event of the season...
