Question on staging
Help me remember the difference in deep and shallow staging. As I remember shallow is just lighting the top bulb and flicker second bulb? This gives you more roll out and possibly quicker 60 ft times and possibly more MPH , as I remember it. Deep staging could slow you ET maybe..05 on full tree.

You have it about right except for the MPH...your MPH is directly related to how much HP you are making...that will not change with staging...yes, it will vary a tiny bit based on the weather but that's about it...

Example in my car:
Deep Staged 1800RPM foot break .020 RT 1.6x 60' 6,50 ET
Shallow Staged 1800RPN foot break 1.20 RT 1.5x 60' 6.40 ET
Bracket racing is all about Reaction Time and Running on the Number you have on the window. A .020 light and running dead on a 6.50 dial will win more races than a 1.20 light and running dead on a 6.40 dial in.
Deep staging give other benefits other that reaction time. I prefer to deep stage and foot brake at 1800rpm rather than go shallow of the trans brake at 3100 rpm. Its not important (as long as its not an index race) of dialing a bit slower..

I’m assuming he’s looking for consistency. let’s face it, bracket racing isn’t pure racing. I think of it more like car games at 100+ mph and consistency is one of the ingredients. Ask anyone whose Corvette was beaten by a Honda CRV or such ilk at the track.

Heres a little example of how i lowered my consistant but slow reaction times last weekend. Was getting lots of lousy 0.30's consistently with just tripping the "staged" beams. So after just tripping them and stopping as usual i would roll another 4-5 inches but not deep stage then leave on third full amber like before. This got me some .00's and .01's on sunday. Cheers!
