Default NHRA rule for shoulder belt for old cars?

Does anyone know the NHRA rule regarding if a shoulder belt is required on a mid 60's car that didn't originally come with one? (It is mostly stock and is probably a high 14 or low 15 second car and currently only has lap belts).

If the car is stock with stock belts you are OK...if the car is modified to a point you may need a 5 point harness...your ET would not require them...a word to the wise...if any car does have a 5 point harness it must be up to code...I have seen a lot of racers who think that because their car does not require a harness, if they put one in it does not have to up to code...nope...if you have one, needed or not, it must meet code..

Here you go: "General Regulations Section, sub section 10:5 DRIVER RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
"A quick release 3-inch driver restraint system, with a 2-inch crotch strap, meeting SFI Spec 16.1 is mandatory in all cars in competition required by the rules to have a roll bar or roll cage. (Permitted in all other classes.)
Driver restraint system must be clearly labeled as meeting SFI 16.1 and be dated by manufacturer. (See Class Requirements for Top Fuel and Funny Car.)
SFI 16.1 "Y" type belts prohibited. System must be updated at 2 year interval's from date of manufacture. All Seat belt and shoulder harness hardware must be originally designed to be used with each other and produced by the same manufacturer.Cars using OEM or OEM type seat may route crotch strap in front of seat instead of through seat. Only units that release all five attachment points in one motion are permitted."

The requirement for a roll bar or roll cage is 11.49 and quicker ET...if you are comfortable with stock lap belts, leave them be and use them...
