Will try to get into 11's this saturday!! (Bradenton - Desoto Speedway)
My 68' is basically ready to try out for 11's... Here's a list of what I've done since my 12.49 run on 255's street tires:
1) Get 275/60R15 BFG Drag Radials
2) upgrade u-joints to solid spicers
3) have linelock installed (to warm up the tires)
4) no more mechanical fans (add'l horsepower)
4) Weight savings:
4a) 17 lbs aluminum wheels instead of 25 lbs steel rims
4b) Fiberglass spring (approx. 30+ lbs weight saving)
I will also remove my passanger seat and run with the convertible top instead of the hard top (another 50+ lbs weight saving)
Now I just have to hope that my rear end won't break when hooking up with the Drag Radials...
Would be great if some of you can make it to watch my try to get into 11's...

Good luck to you Oliver.
Your weight savings and Drag Radials with line lock should get you half to 2/3's of the way there.
Mix that with a little cooler weather, I know hard it isto come by in your area, but you will be close.

Just had the Drag Radials installed on my new rims... I will test fit them tonite but take them off again..
I'm only going to use them on the track...

You may want to check with the track rules. If you get a low 12 second pass without the hardtop, they may not let you make another attempt in the convertible. All depends on how strict your track is though.
