How do you Drag Race??

You seem to be getting a fairly good 60' time but your ET and MPH seem low. I would expect to see your MPH in the 99 range.
Maybe someone with an 86 can chime in there are some very good ones here.
It is possible that weather was holding you back some.

I once found that I was launching well but was not getting the ET and MPH and the cause was the that the throttle cable was not fully adjusted. I put the peddle to the floor the by the butterfly opened only 1/2 to 3/4 way. After adjusting the cable the ET and MPH came back. Not saying you have this problem just that it may not be you at all the reason for the 96 MPH

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
My best was 1.92 60', 14.1, 95mph

When I had a friend stand on the gas pedal I could still move the TB lever about 3/4 of an inch for it to be wide open (Butterflies horizontal).
I guess this could be one of my problems.

honestly, if you preload the convertor to 1500rpms then when the 3rd yellow comes on, let off the brake and dont get into the throttle, once you get rolling, then punch it.
i tried telling you this, but you mashed it from 1600 and went up in smoke :seeya

Little things that will affect your mph (trap speed).
1. temperature ... the cooler the better, make sure you run on a cool engine, ice it if you have to
2. stupid little things like making sure the filter is clean or that the car isn't carboned up
3. the throttle body thing the guy above mentioned ... on my car I had the same problem (it's a common factory restriction on LS1 Fbodies). I had to shave the throttle body stop down with a dremel tool so that my throttle blade would open all the way.
4. raising the tire pressure in the front might give you a little mph
5. when you stage, just barely trip the second light ... theoretically you get a very, very slight rolling start this way ... as opposed to staging too close to the starting (e.t.) line.
6. weight reduction
My advice though is just to try and get a better launch if you can. You only have to improve it very slightly to crack a 13.
Good luck
Chris
When I first started racing, I would leave from idle, and just mash the loud pedal. 60' were 2.1 - 2.2. I always run in D (3rd) and let the tranny shift itself.
See my sig for my best time. Not too shabby for a "Catch Fire"

Wow, can you all believe I successfully diagnosed one

It my own damn fault really, when I bought this Vette the silly azz that owned it before me had a NOS plate just before the Throttle Body. I removed it when I changed my old intake to a Ported AS&M intake and never replaced the bracket that the Throttle cable and TV cable hook up to. I have a ton of slack in the throttle cable, thus the reason for my butterflies not opening. D'OH!!! I was only running at half throttle down the track last Sunday and never went into WOT. Well at least it's an easy fix, too bad the seasons over though. :(

1.8's :mad 1 day I'm going to hit that (then I'll probably miss a shift :p: )
