Re: longer wheel studs (CORKVETTE1)
The rule unless they just changed it was that the stud must protrude into thr hex portion of the stud be the length of the dia.

If your studs are for example 1/2" wide then they must go into the hexagonal portion of the lugnut that far (so 1/2" past the tapered part). Get the long ones so that they stick out past the nuts and they won't have issues with ya.

Re: (scorp508)
Has anyone found studs that are long enough to do that with Weld's & 5/16 spacers? The Moroso's aren't long enough! :nonod:

What's involved in changing the studs and where do I buy them. I'm getting ready to install Pro Stars on my '84.

the ARP's aren't long enough either(shhh.........don't tell the tech inspectors around here) but they're working for me with the long shank nuts.

Re: (89 Paul in Cal)
Hey Paul,
They're working for me to, but don't tell anybody, they're still not long enough! The only other thing to do would be try finding a stud with the same diameter knurl in SAE thread and use non-metric lug nuts.

Corkvette1,
Do you know when this new requiremnt kicks in. ie:minimum time like 12's.
Just curious - are you still redoing your motor? Just wondering time frame on heads.
Where were you this weekend? I thought the tracks were closed for the season.

Guys,
There were differnt length lugnuts used over the years of C4s. I don't know what years had the shorter ones, but it might get you by.

Corkvette1,
How busy is it on Sunday?
I might come out for a couple hours. I was going to start tearing down the engine - But it can wait!!!
I see the gates open at 9 and racing at 11. What time do you normally get there?

Re: longer wheel studs (85vet)
I use longer studs that work on my 93 with Weld Pro Stars. I use a factory GM part number, They are easy to install. I can get the number. they are about 3 1/2 inches long?? I got them from a friend here in Oahu, who I bought the wheels and tires from. I just raced this weekend and passed tech, well at least in hawaii, and they did look at the studs.
ps, I have H&R spacers for the rear. Trust me, these studs fit and they come to the end of the wheel lugs on the welds front and rear.

Can you post the part # when you get a chance.
On doug Rippie's web site they show race lug studs that are 1" longer than stock, what are the stock lengths?
Thanks in advance...
