I conducted a brief search before posing this question. The last couple of times I've taken my 16" Stingray to the strip was a "test and tune" event due to the better track prep and fewer participants. I brought a helmet and no other safety equipment. However the last time Tech asked me if I had a jacket, which I did not. My best run was 10.52/134mph. We are supposed to adhere to NHRA rules but the rulebook is confusing for the street vehicle that I am participating with. So can anyone tell me what I should have the next time I participate based on my last ET?
Thanks in advance.

That said, each track can institute whatever rules they want, so a single layer jacket might be required.
They're cheap..
good luck, have fun!
In all my years of drag racing this new "2008 and newer cars can run as fast as 10.000" rule has to be the most poorly implemented I've ever seen.
That said, if the track tells you a jacket is needed then you're gonna need to buy one. You'll also want to keep an eye on your trap speed as they can kick you out for as little as 135.01 MPH even with a helmet and jacket.
