Time to try my hand at open comp racing this Saturday at Gainesville Raceway...the 352 Shootout has many classes but I only fit in open comp...should be interesting as I haven't run this class in many years...it is a bit different style of racing...kind of a cross between index and brackets...they take your fastest time shot and deduct .05 from it...this is your dial for the all eliminations...so, for example, if my fastest time shot is 6.58, my dial for the rest of the event will be 6.53...if I ran as fast as I could to go 6.58 how can I possibly run 6.53, you ask...this is where the fun begins...

The key is to run your time shots .05 slower than the car will go...racers accomplish this in many ways...some put a restrictor plate on their carb...some put a block of wood under their go pedal...some lift at a certain point on track, etc...I hope to have figured out a way for me...I will take my time shots leaving at 1800 rpm off the footbrake...then in elims I will leave at 3600 rpm off the trans brake...I practiced this and I was .05 faster off the button...we'll see how it goes....lol...

I think the elephant in the room will be my R/T...they use a .500 pro tree and it has been a minute since I've left off that deal...I'll have a ball no matter what...

Thanks Pete...I had that issue figured out but wait....there's more...a front is coming through and teh temp will be 49 on friday night...that means low 50's on saturday morning...let's just say for a pump gas car this is not good at all...oh well...

Yes they do...NHRA Summit Series...they also have a very good special test n tune...I believe it is once a month...Slicks and drag radials only for 35 bucks...
