Im gathering opinions on drag radials. I'm currently running 315x35x17s street tires on the rear. I've run a best of 12.06 @113.8 on these. I want some drag radials to put on it when I go to Gainesville. I want to get into the 11s.
I've got some 16" and 17" wheels I could mount them on. I'm woundering if a 50 series 16" would give a larger footprint on launch than a 35 or 40 series 17"? Possibly like a wrinkle wall.
The overall diameter is very close to the same so gearing shouldn't change.
16"s are cheaper to buy.
Or should I dismount my street tires so I can use the 11" wheels? Then I could use a 315x35x17 drag radial. This would be more expensive.
Which would you recommend then? I was thinking they'd be good for my car. I also need to take into consideration DR's that can handle well in the rain.

Two things. First my opinion is that you get drag radials for just that-Drag.
You will not find a good Drag radial that handles rain. Just one of lifes choices.
You may want a good all around performance tire then. If not.....
Second. Get the BFG's 315's and mount them on separate wheels. That way you can thow 'em on at the track, when you get there, and still drive home in the rain. Or drive with them on to the track and be very careful on wet pavement. I love my BFG's. My 60 ft times are usually around 1.674 -consistantly. Good luck. :steering:

Gotta ask.
You puttin' those on race wheels for the track and street hunting, or you gonna put those on your stock wheels and drive with them all the time?
Hopefully not in the rain. :yesnod:
That's not my opinion.. I think the Nittos are a good tire. You just need to smoke 'em for 10 seconds in the burnout!! :yesnod: I get consistent 1.65-1.71 short times and they have stuck every time. Mind you I have the 275x40x17 on Y2K wheels..See my videos on my home page..I'm in the 11's with NITTO DR's... :smash:
BTW..I will be going with the new 17" E.T streets in march when are released..for even more traction.. :yesnod:
