Default Beat a Harley Davidson

I never race anyone in my 2017 Stingray. I had been told by another Corvette driver that I should never race anyone on a motorcycle because they will win every time. I was a little ticked off at a guy on a Harley Davidson because he had gone below the speed limit on a two lane road for miles in front of me. I was on the way to work and I pulled up beside him at a traffic light on a four-lane divided highway. He revved his engine and glanced at me. The light changed and I rowed through the gears and was a little shocked when I saw the tachometer soar up to 5,000. He sounded like thunder as we rode beside each other. When I got into fourth gear I started to pull away from him. By then, I was going over 70 in a 55 zone. I was looking for blue light but was fortunate. I felt bad about racing someone on a public road but the whole thing was over in 15 seconds.

Shame on you! Keep it off the streets.

BTW, I’m just going into 3rd at 70 or so.

Harleys are far from fast. This is not their job. They are cruisers.

It is sport bikes which are quick.

I agree with an exception or two.

The V-Rod is by far the quickest. It will give a Stingray a good run. Who wins will depend on the skill of the rider/driver.

Sportbikes are in a different league entirely.

I bet the Livewire is quick also. It is hard to beat 100% torque at 0 RPM off of the line.

A lot can happen in 15 seconds.

Great that in this instance nothing bad happened.

No doubt! The V-rod is my son-in-law's and runs very strong compared to Harley's I've owned. You are right, the sportsbikes are lightening.

Doubtful that the Corvette's any faster than the EV HD in the 1/4 mile.

I looked it up. Harley claims 0–60 mph in 3.0 seconds for the Livewire. I did not see any real world independent tests.

As I mentioned, EVs are quick off the line.

V-ROD is a slug that only Harley owners think are fast.

I have to disagree. Put a few hundred miles on a V Rod last year. They accelerate quick. Definatley not a track bike LOL. This is coming from a sportbike owner.

You were in 4th gear at a little over 70 mph? You weren't trying very hard and the guy on the Harley probably wasn't either.

The race is over before it starts. A V-ROD is no match for any liter sport bike, not even against a dual purpose bike like a KTM or Triumph Tiger, or the 955 Daytona I had.....over in first gear.

I wish I could tell you exactly which Harley Davidson it was. But it was dark and before sunrise. I do know that his bike had a bright red gas tank and it was a medium size bike. Very loud. My Stingray has only 7,000 miles and I never park at a store and leave it unattended. I drive once or twice a week to work and park under a surveillance camera. The armed guards at work compliment me on the car and they check on it regularly. I doubt I will ever race again in this car.
