[QUOTE]Is it going to be a 9inch ford housing or a GM housing? 8.8 FORD
Will it mount up to a TH400? YES
also CAn we stuff 15inch wider tires up there? mAybe 29inches x 15inch wide x 13inch tread? I have 28x13.5x15 ETstreets on my car now, Thats about as big as your going to get with out major body work.
Re: Solid Axel kits?? Where did they go?? (mackeyred96)
I measured it one time. I had the car on a ramp, and I cut out a 29inch cardboard piece and I put it up to the tire and it fit. Maybe thier would be need to trim the bottom of the fenders on the outside edges a bit to give neough side clearence.
Anyway could the axel and the asel mounting parts hold up to say 800-900hp with sissy gas and maybe 600hp with out it? Now we can do burnouts with drag radials now can we?(Of course with the solid axel kit) :yesnod:

mackey, is dosen't sound like you want to give alot of details on the new rears. I understand how it is when you have a new idea, and you know there is a market for it. Anyway, I want one!!! :chevy

Re: Solid Axel kits?? Where did they go?? (Light84vette)
What will be the max power we can put on it untill it breaks.
Boy if I could answer that.
Also I thought 9inch ford axel was better than 8.8? Why 8.8 axel?
A 9" is stronger than a 8.8 but you have to really cut up the car to get the 9" at the correct pinion height. The 8.8 will fit with very little modification to the body. The Mustang guys are useing the 8.8 and running high 8. second times, this should be ok for MOST street/strip Corvettes.
Re: Solid Axel kits?? Where did they go?? (mackeyred96)
Is it a four link, coil over style? How does it bolt in? Will we be able to use the stock style trailing arms? Will there be a stage1. stage2, stage3, versions? Is this going to be a off the shelf product? Do they have to be custom built by the vehicle? What about brakes? Do we have to change rotors and calipers? Brake lines?
Re: Solid Axel kits?? Where did they go?? (mackeyred96)
Will it be able to change settings? Like move up or down to say for the street hold 25onch OD tires. And for the track 29inch tires?(Of course some trimming) ;) :chevy
Re: Solid Axel kits?? Where did they go?? (mackeyred96)
The 8.8 has been proven to 8.50's in full race trim, this was in a Mustang.
The reasons for using the 8.8 are more compact, lighter in weight, better pinion geometry for the Corvette and replacement parts are inexpensive.
The unit will be available in both wheel offsets.
Housing will be pre-built but final assembly is on an order basis due to choice of Positraction device and gearing. Units will ship following day from order Via Fedex Frieght.
Racing axles with with choice of longer studs, C-Clip eliminator kit standard.
Fully adjustable 4-Link with adjustable track locator.
Hal/QA1 12 point shocks and coil overs, choice of 10 spring rates.
All Factory brake hardware bolts right on.... Everything !!!
Custom trans crossmember and driveshaft included by trans type, covers all Standard and Automatic G.M. units except 4L80E.
Re: Solid Axel kits?? Where did they go?? (RPM Frank)
So what price range wll it be for sale for? $2,000...$2,500...$3000? Also the TRansmission will be held up by only a crossmember? How thick and strong will the crossmember be? Also would it be like a 1x3 or something like that rectangular tube?
Also HOw much weight will the whole unit weigh? HOw much weight loss can we see from a Dana 36?
Re: Solid Axel kits?? Where did they go?? (Light84vette)
The weight should be around the same, we are replacing aluminum with cast iron and steel, but there is a lot less functional mass.
The price issue cannot be discussed as of yet because I'm still working on being an operating vendor/tuner on this site. Sorry for the delay but between the move from the old facility and the inumereous delay's in the construction and move into the new one, everything has gone to pot lately.
By next week all will be done, we move in this comming monday.
