Default Fontana Raceway / California Speedway?

According to their web site, California Speedway (Fontana, CA) had winter street legal drags Dec. 14-15, but that wasn't the end of the winter schedule. I have been wanting to go back and test the 'Vette. Does anyone know when their next street legal races are? I looked and looked, but I couldn't find it.

There are a number of us waiting to see the rest of their schedule. Not sure what the holdup is?

Here is the reason for the hold-up: they are waiting for the NHRA Division 7 schedule to be completed. Then, and only then, will the folks at the Speedway know what the availability is of NHRA race operations crews to come and work their events in Fontana. I talked to Phil Tucker and he hopes to have this information in the next week or so.

We (West Coast Corvette Challenge) are also waiting for this information so that we can schedule our February event at Fontana.

Happy New Year!

The LA Times this morning, Friday, said that the first race at California Dragway will be Jan 11,12.

Still nothing up on their website.

If their schedule doesn't fit with your plans, stop into the WCCC at LACR on the 18th of Jan.

Dec. 14, I got there at 6:30 A.M. and left at 4:00 P.M. and only got in three runs. People were allowed to get in two runs that got there around 11:30-12:00 PM, while we had to wait for our third and last run. Then the other were also allowed to get in their third run. I told them that was a a bunch of B.S. if we could get up early, why should we, if this kind of stuff happens. They told me to take it up with the tower. :mad :mad :bs :bs :bs :bs

Track was not preped well, I could never hook!

I passed by Irwindale? last night on the way to a LA Kings game and read their billboard that they (Irwindale ? ) was going to be open for street legal drags this weekend....don't know if this helps anyone looking for some racing.

I told them that was a a bunch of B.S.
Al I was there on the 15th and I got there before 8. I had to leave at 12:30 and only got two runs in. I agree.. :bs

Track was not prepped well
First run I got sideways at launch and had to get off it.
2nd run I took the launch easier and then got sideways in the first to 2nd shift.

I had planned to come back Sunday, but after the fiasco, I just decided to chill!

Al:
The reason they let the late arrivals get a makeup run was because they only had three techs (most were at a NHRA recert in Las Vegas) and if you were not in the first arrivals it took over two hours to tech. On Sunday everyone got six or more runs. At Irwindale tonight gates opened at 3PM I got there at 2:45 and got through tech in a MERE 50 minutes. Other WCCC guys got there at 3:15 and tech was OVER two hours, and if you were time only I'll bet you were at least two hours in staging between runs.

Yikes...I've got to watch out for that. Thanks for the heads-up.

Irwindale is open very frequently for street legal drags (not sure how frequently), but they are an 1/8th mile track. Fontana is a 1/4.

Yup. I got there at about 3:30 and did not get thru tech until almost six. I signed up for Brackets and runs were quick. They had 3 staging lanes for brackets. All the time onlys had to share one staging lane.

My new clutch is screwed and I had to quit after 2 runs with the smell of burnt clutch wafting thru the cockpit. :smash:

Also at the Auto show today California Dragway was handing out flyers about running Jan 11 and 12. Still nothing on their website...
