Default Summit Series Points event...

I am back from the event...no way to sugar coat it...it was a chit show from beginning to end...I got to the track at 7:45Am...it was chilly, 45*...I unloaded the truck and got ready for our one and only time shot...they called me up at 11:30..sigh...I have not been back to the track in 10 months for a number of reasons...nothing has changed...they cannot run a smooth program and the track prep is no bueno...I made my time shot and spun off the line with a 1.42 short and going 6.42...last week I made 11 hits at Bradenton and never spun once...9 of the 11 passes had 1.39 60 foots...

First round was finally called and I lined up with a 78 Malibu dialed 6.48...I put 6.42 on mine...I left at the same time as him so he clearly missed the tree...oops!...I spun like crazy with a 1.47 short...I won anyway because he was .215 on the tree...ugly and lucky...I ran 6.52 on my 6.42 dial...on to round 2 somehow...sheesh...

They call us up for round 2 and I get a Monza dialed 8.46....I have no idea what to dial at this point so I throw a 6.42 on my board... he leaves green and so do I...except...my truck goes wheels up as usual but spins and chunks turning right toward the wall...yipers!...I let the wheels come down, lifted, and turn left missing the right wall by 3 feet maybe...btw, I was 13 on the tree to his 56...I had friends who were spinning as well...even dragsters...96 collector spun in his street vet going 8's...I started the day with 9.1 lbs. in my slicks...went down to 9.0 first round and 8.8 second round...no change as the track was just garbage...I only ask for one thing when I race...a decent surface...no chance of that at OSW, sadly...yes, some cars got down the track OK...mostly slower cars or those set up for lousy track surface...

Anyway, I cannot go back there and have that happen again...a good friend had to foot brake leaving at 2000 rpm in his 6 teens truck in order to hook...I may have to do the same if I want to race there again...this stinks...yes, I had a lot of fun pitting and hanging out with friends...one buddy has a 67 camaro with a 496 in it, very mild...he runs 7.0's and he could not get off the line either...

My next race may be Gainesville at the end of the month...looks like my new 406 motor will be ready in a month...Tomorrow I plan to enter a foot brake event in Gulfport Ms. in March..20K to win each day...have never foot fed my truck but I am willing to give it a go...lol...

Dan,
We both experienced "spinning ain't winning" but it was great to race with you after a long absence. I did not care as my C6 finally performed up to potential after so many problems. Before I go back to OSW, M/T ET Street R's will replace the M&H Racemasters that were on the car last night.
