Launch tips for a newbie (request)...
Also running a 9.5" Edge Racing converter (matched to the setup) 2800 stall.
This combination is totally new to me and I've found that traction (even with the current 2.59's) is at a premium even though the computer tuning isn't complete. I get wheelspin all the way through first gear and about a half second into second gear. This obviously wouldn't be good for 1/4 mile times.
I was guessing that with the converter and the taller gears (2.59's now.. 3.07's in the kitchen) would be a decent match for street tires. I now think I was wrong.
Does anyone have a launch technique that would be compatible with this type of setup and still yield halfway decent 60' times (on street tires)? I just can't grasp any type of aggressive launch without wasting time on tire spin. Just baby it I suppose?
I'm not overly concerned with 1/4 mile times since I'm nowhere near a hardcore drag racer. But it would still suck to have stock-like times with the work I've put into it (and still have to do). All opinions appreciated.
