I got to the track at 8AM, unloaded and prepped for the event...I ended up getting down to 9 cars and made a few bucks...it was mostly with smoke and mirrors, believe me...my lights were allover the place but I was lucky a lot...I went out on a 42 tree and rightfully so...I forgot to mention that after a time shot and the first round spinning and chunking off the line I switched to foot braking trying to lessen the hit some...I usually leave off the button at 3400 rpm so I foot fed at 2500 rpm...I did launch a bit better but had no spot on the tree...I got through the next 5 rounds but, like I said, mostly with luck...lol...oh well, on to day next...
I woke up on Sunday morning in the hotel at 5AM with it pouring rain outside...dang...I went to breakfast and headed to the track...it stopped raining about 8 so they dried the track and we began racing at 10:30AM...I knew foot braking did not work, just too rusty I guess...I went back to the button...the track was in bad shape with rubber coming up all over the place...everyone was having issues...except me...go figure...no time shot today so I put a 6.43 on my junk which I ran first pass on Saturday...I ran a duster dialed 6.11...he came at me hard so I stayed in it...I ran 6.40...what!?....I bought back in very confused...the air was worse if anything due to the humidity...
Second round I get another quick car a 68 camaro of a friend...he dialed 6.04 so I tried to dial hard at 6.39...I left first and, sure enough, he came at me hard...H caught me so I knew I was dead meat....I ran it out the back door and guess what...I went 6.37...huh?...my dime picked up 6 numbers in two passes when everyone else was struggling with the track...sheesh...I did make one change on both passes...I upped my tire pressure in the slicks to 11 lbs. from 10.8...hard to believe that mattered so much, but.....oh yeah, my mph was the same so clearly I was putting it down to the track much better...
I got back last night at midnight...I will re-group and head to Orlando in two weeks...
