Took my stock 2019 Z51 to our West Texas 1/8 mile track sat. night. I "use to be" pretty completive with a 10 second 1/4 mile bracket car 40 years ago so for ***** and grins I took my 19 Z51 with street tires to our 1/8 mile track last Sat. night. It was 92 degrees hot and dry at 8 PM there were not many cars mostly kids with street cars. I talk some chit in staging lanes about real 10 second 1/4 bracket racing 40 years ago.

Bad *** me on my first trip I over shot staging beams by 6-8 feet had to back up. My reaction time was embarrassing, 60 foot time was way slow, ET was way slow speed was fast for the slow ET. ET should have been a full second faster for speed ran.

Second pass was the same. I just stayed on return road and left the track too embarrassed to hang around. No time slips made it home. So contrary to the song I am not as good as I once was. Car is capable I am not.

Well, at least you took your car to the track. Go back and do it again.

I hope you were able to enjoy your trip back to the drags. I've been away for a little more than a year and finally got back out last week. My results in my execution were poor and it reflects the lack of experience. You have been gone forever and can't expect you to just pick up where you let off 40 years ago, You have to stay in the present and look at things as the first time. First thing my wife asked me getting home from the track was "did you have fun". I told here yes despite my poor driving. Next thing she said was what do you expect being gone that long? When is you next race? So my advice to you is get back out there and HAVE FUN.
