Gainesville recap...

Got back to the track at 8:30AM...cleaned up the truck, charged it, fueled it, teched in and warmed her up for the 10AM start...we all got one time shot which took a minute since 337 entries showed up...whew!...I did Ok and went 6.19 @109 with a 1.31 short time and 26 on the tree...counting Orlando two weeks prior, that made 7 of 8 passes going 6.19...the other one was 6.188...the dime is nasty...
They finally call me up for first round at 4PM...I have to be way up front since I need to get back around for the double entry...most of the hitters are doubled and up front also...oh well...I get a first gen camaro and miss the light with a .037...my opponent is 12 so I am in deep do do...I take the stripe by .001 but had to go 6.17 to do so...sigh....off to the buy back window for me...
I go up for round two at 7:30PM...it is getting chilly now, temp in the 50's...I run a friend in his gen 1 camaro...he dials 6.45...I put 6.17 on my junk...I cut him in half on the tree with a 25 to his 54...I kill 4 mph at the stripe to be two above for the win...I was going 6.17, btw...
Round three finds me lined up with a 70's Dart...he puts 7.68 on his ride to my 6.17...I miss it again with a 52 but he is much worse with a 96 on the tree...whew!....I kill 5 mph this time to be two above for the win...yup, I was going to go 6.17 again...at this point they make an announcement that when my class, Pro ET, finishes the race is over and they will chop to the winners of each class...the temp and dew point are close to the same so too dangerous to continue...we lost about 3 hours due to timing beam issues, a crash and some oil down...I don't know how much I will get but probly less than $150....better than nuttin'...lol...the NHRA will not let the track pay us anymore...they send us a check in a while...dumbest idea ever...
Sunday morning arrives to heavy fog...the delay is about an hour...I go up for round one and catch a mustang dialed 6.55...I put 6.17 on mine...he he....he was 54 on the tree to my 15...see ya bud...I kill 6 mph to be three above FTW...
They call me up for round 2 at 1:15PM...I am running another mustang with a buddy on board dialed 6.18...I have 6.17 on mine, of course...he hammers me on the light with a .003 to my .022...qwap!...at the stripe he gives it back to me by .001...better to be lucky than good, they say...I do go dead on with a 7...
Round three happens at 3:30PM...I run a fella I know from Mobile, Ala...he dialed his 72 Chevelle at 6.00...I put 6.18 on mine since it is 83* now...a tail wind has kicked up but I feel like the higher DA is worse...we leave and I got him on the tree...he is .051 but I am .010...yippee!...not....my short time and 330' time says I was going 6.18...a big gust of wind must have hit me and I went 6.15 @110 mph...WTH?...I caught his drop but did not react to it...he was coming at me like a freight rain as I knew he would...could I have gotten rid of those three numbers...guess I will never know...fooey!!!!....he went on to 4 cars...my buddy took my truck to 4 cars as well...good for him...
Next up is Orlando on Feb.14-15th...oh yeah...we checked my slicks and they were gone...no wear holes at all...this with 80 passes on them...big surprise...I run 14x32 MT stiff sidewalls...I called MT and they think I am crushing the slicks on launch...we ordered new ones two days ago...$1000.00 a pair mounted and balanced...sigh...just part of the deal, I guess...
