I bought a tree in '88, before I raced 'seriously', and my racing-friends 'laughed'. It was from THORN, in N.Y., and while primitive, it was a very good tool, and I used it constantly, hanging it off the mirror and 'practicing' between rounds, in the car. Years later, when EVERYBODY had to have a tree, I got a 'Final Round II' tree, w/ the then current 'incandescent' (?) lights. It is neat; it keeps track of red-lights, best light, worst light, etc., but I always keep the THORN tree in the car, for race-day. Now, NHRA has gone to an LED-tree, and, guess what? My ol' THORN tree IS an LED-tree! If used correctly, the tree is THE best racing investment you'll make :chevy
anyone ever get one of those full size 6ft ones for fun at home or at the track between rounds....I think that'd be a really cool item to have :D
A buddy I raced with years ago had a full-size tree inter-faced w/ his Final Round Tree. It was neat; we'd display our cars at shows, then sit and 'race' each other. It'd be great to attract attention to your car, club, organization at functions. I don't know it's value as a 'training tool'; #1- most people don't use ANY tree to fullest advantage (IMHO), and #2- you'd have to place the tree SO FAR ahead of your car, to correctly 'mimic' track situations; who has THAT much room? To get a used, full-size tree would be
