I think they are both great companies to do deal with. You can't go wrong with either. I'm sure someone on here has a "horror story" of dealings with one or the other, but in all reality, either are fine places to do business.
That said, I have to support the company that supports the racing series in which I participate. I have been racing in the Summit Bracket Series, since before it became the Summit Bracket Series. I have attended EVERY NHRA Division 7 Summit Bracket Series Finals race held, and I hope to one day qualify for the Summit Bracket World Finals. We all want the help and support of the manufacturers and suppliers. I say, "turn about" is only right. One vote for Summit!
I've never ordered from Summit, I've always ordered from Jeg's. I've always had good experiences with them and never found a reason to order from Summit. Plus Jeg's is located in Ohio which is nice and close to Pennsylvania.
I have a hard time "sponsoring" Pro Stock teams that just may take out Warren Johnson out of competition :), so I try to avoid buying from either. I prefer to give my money to a local vendor. (unless price differences are too signifigant)... but generally I use one until they get me ticked off with messed up orders then I switch to the other :) This has been going back & forth for about 15 years now :D Over all they are pretty much about the same customer service-wise
But I'll tell you this... I just ordered some ET Streets this week & called Jegs 1st... By now we all know about the "free" shipping with the $7.99 handling charge & another $5.99 UPS fee for an "out of box" tire shipments.... but this time Jegs wanted to add $11.99 per tire for "oversize" package  Said it was a new thing to help them recover from the "free" shipping they offer.
I told em "thank you but forget it", then called Summit & had NO out of box or oversize fee's.. go figure...
Over the course of the years they both have been fine most of the time but each can & will mess up sometimes just like anyone else .. hey it happens :)
In short I'd say if there are no "good" local vendors near by I would call both to check pricing etc. before placing an order
I use both...Jegs because Jeggy Jr is a personal friend of the Lewis Family Racing team...and Summit because we run the Summit/Pontiac series and buying from Summit parts over $1k allows the top prize to double from $50k to $100k!.
I use both, all great experiences. A couple years back I ordered a bunch of stuff and at the end had to return everything because I ordered all the wrong parts. They took everything back, no questions asked. So I tend to use Summit more often.
I use both. Summit is my favorite because I get the products a couple of days sooner and I've had ouststanding customer service from them. I've had no problems with Jegs and some of their products seem to be just a tad more "hard core" for the serious racer.
I don't think a person can go wrong ordering from either one. Deen
I play off them both........
Late last year, I got my 68' Camaro Hotchkis rear leaf spring kit from Summit (in stock) at Jegs (BO) price of $100 under price....Jegs had a typo on-line but Summit honored it even though it was less than their cost:thumbs:
After us 1st gen F-body guys cleaned them out, they corrected the price in 1 week  We spread the word fast on Camaro's.net forum.
It has always paid for me to shop around!
They're both good, but i perfer Summit. I think they ship a little quicker and Jeg's just pissed me off by sending me a year old harness that cost me $8 for handling and $12 to return, not to mention the aggravation of having to rebox it and go to the post office.
They're both neat companies, but I prefer Summit for a reason mentioned earlier, which is their sponsorship of the national NHRA ET bracket series.... I'm not aware of Jegs directly sponsoring anything I have ever raced in.
I was at their headquarters in Canton Ohio a few years ago.... sure wish we had a performance outlet like that out here... would be too easy to go broke though.
On the flip side, my last order with Jegs was for (2) MT ET Front tires....I received 6.... unfortunately they were charging my credit card for each set sent. Sounds like they are a little unorganized.
