I need some helmet advice. I am planning on doing some drag racing this summer, and instead of going through the trouble of borrowing one, I decided to go ahead and buy one. I had planned to get a G-force Pro Force 1 helmet, which is SA2000 rated, but while I was looking for it on the internet, I found what I thought was the same helmet for only $150, so I jumped on it not realizing that it was the Force 1 instead of the Pro Force 1. The only difference I can find between these is that the Force 1 is rated M2000 instead of SA2000.
It is my understanding that most tracks only require M90 rated helmets, so is there any reason to return the one I have and pay the extra for the SA00 rating.
I'm also considering trying out autocrossing at some point in the future if this makes any difference. I'm not looking to be very serious with this, I just want to have some fun and see what I can do.
However if you plan on doing any road racing/track day type events, they usually require an SA rated helmet. If you will not hit the road courses then you are okay. If you might hit the road couses and have not used the helmet, you should exchange it.
