Default ET Streets

Hey guys - Quick question for you about ET Streets. I'd ask my buddies on the M3 forum, but no one there (that I know of) has ever tried them on their M3:-) For those of you that have used them, how much of a difference did they make in your 1/4 mile times when you switched over from your stock tires? I ran a 13.29 @ 103 mph on my stock tires, but I have a hard time coming out out of the hole quickly. My best 60' was only 2.08. Looking to get into 12's stock with the M. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
P.S.- Ran into a guy that says he lurks here once in a while. Had over 600 RWHP in his blue Z06, with a laptop hooked up to his ECU. Ran low 11's on street tires. Incredible car!

Big variance for the answer.... a 9 second car on street tires could have problems running deep into the 11's simply because they will have traction problems in all gears on street tires, thus the difference could be a staggering 2 seconds..... whereas a 15 second car that only has 1 or 2 tire spins out of the hole, might only see a 1 tenth improvement with ET Streets. With my 11 second car, the difference is an honest 6 tenths.... 11.5 vs 12.1, with your low 13 second car, I would guess you'll see 2 tenths improvement based upon your 103 trap speed.

In any regards, good luck !!

cheers,
Beach Bum

I don't know much about M3's (other than it's a great car), but with a 103mph. trap speed (less than 300rwhp) you really don't need E.T. streets. Too much tire can cause some nasty drivetrain breakage. BFG drag Radials in your size might be a better pick.

:iagree:

ET Streets are definitely too much tire for a stock M3. The BFG DRs are a much better choice.

Thanks very for the advice everyone. In regards to the BFG's, do you think they will help out that much? Some info on my car...I have SMG (Sequential Manual Gearbox), like the F-1 cars use. It's a clutchless manual (no torque-convertor, not an automatic). It allows for very fast and consistent shift speeds (.08 of second), but it has one drawback...no manual clutch that allows me to control my rpm's from the line. However, BMW equipped my car with a thing called Launch Control. It's sort of like a stall-convertor for a manual. Basically my clutch pulses at 8-times per second at 1,800 rpm, so with launch Control, I can only come out of the hole at 1,800 rpm when I use it. BUT...when I punch it in first gear instead of using Launch Control, it revs up to 3,500 rpm and then locks the clutch, thus causing trmendous wheelspin and slow 1/4 mile times. There is no in-between (between 1,800 and 3,500 that is). My thinking was, if I could get better tires for dragging, than when I punched it without using Launch Control, 3,500 rpms would be perfect for coming off the line...assuming I have tires that hook up hard. That's why I was considering the ET Streets. If you guys think the BFG's will hook up hard enough, that sounds good to me. Thoughts?

P.S. - Not too worried about driveline breakage, that's what my 6-year/100,000 mile warranty is for;-)

BFG DRs will work fine on your car, I have had both BFG DRs and ET Streets.
The BFGs give excellent traction on most cars that are not very heavily modded.
