I'm running BFG dr's and the stock tires up front. I ALWAYS drive around the puddle because those 9.5 inch wide tires in the front can track a whole lot of water up to the starting line.
When I had the 3000 converter I'd go through the water & heat the tires, because I HAD to, in-order to prevent wheel spin..
However now I have a stock converter, & am still using BFG 315 DRs & I go AROUND the water because I do a VERY SHORT burn out, & its hooking up OK..
& besides why go through the water and do a burn out if you can hook up by going around it.. & save your tires..
If I should ever have a traction problem, then I will go through the water & heat em up... but as of now with my set up, I save my tires.. & still get traction..
Traction is my problem my 60FT times are from 1.84 to 2.23 Going
around the water.I have315 35R 17 Drag Radials,Stock convertor,
307 RearAnd aprox 240 HP @ WW & 336 lbs torque. What am I doing
Wrong? :banghead:
Roll thru the water and dump the clutch at 3000 rpm's in 2nd gear on my six speed. Consistent 1.7's on good track nights. The difference between 20 PSI and 17-18PSI is a .1 in the 60' on my 315 BFG's.
You dump it at 3000 in 2nd?? I've only been to the track once but always took off in 1st. Is taking off in second a big help?? the best 60 I got was 1.947 but I think I can do better!
Dumping the clutch to spin the tires a little and heat them up. Launch at 2500 rpm's. Keep in mind the launch is with 380 LBS of torque at the wheels and 4.09 gears.
