shifting advise?
hey guys i dont post in this section much but recently i am becoming a bit of a drag racing junkie. i have 96 LT5 coupe mostly stock save muffler elims and a cut air intake lid. my question is this. when i am doing the quarter mile i reach the 6300 mark RIGHT before i cross the line. my redline is just that. i usually try to start my shift at 6200 when when my hand eye coordination catches up i actually shift right at 6300. am i hurting my motor by leaving it in 3rd gear at the end of the track? i dont really want to shift cause i will lose that time? and suggestions? what are you other guys with LT4s shifting at? do you leave it in third?

If I hook and get a good 60' time I can get across the stripe close to 6300. If I don't hook well I'm shifting right before the stripe. 4.10's would do the job.
