Now that I have the bugs worked out of my system, I plan on going to the 1/4 mile drag strip at Stittsville tomorrow (June 29). It turns out that it's FOrd Day.
Does that mean I won't be allowed on since I'm not a Ford?
Second question is, other than lowering tire pressure and since I'm on street tires (BF Goodrich G Force T/A KDW 275/40/17) I should avoid the water box right?
Can you give me a proper tire warm up procedure (burnout) and let me know how much psi I should drop the tires down to?
*****EDIT*****
This will be my first ever trip to the drag strip. I'm not expecting too much, and probably am gonna have RT's like 2 seconds, lol.
You'll have to check with the track to see if you can run. I don't know if Canadian tracks are included but here's an interesting link: http://www.staginglight.com/
When you get there, fill out your tech card, go through tech and park the car.
Then go and watch a few launches to see how things are run and the paths involved. If you have any questions ask an official or fellow racer. Once you know the drill, pull into the proper lanes and wait for you lane to be pulled. BTW a regulation helmet will be required at a NHRA track; check it out for your track.
I run GY Eagles with 32psi and get great hookup. Try a short dry hop to clean the tires before you pre-stage (avoid the water). After you pre-stage bring RPM up to about 1,200 and creap into the staging beam. Launch on the 3rd yellow. If your tires go up in smoke, try releasing the brake and roll into the throttle.
The main thing though is just go and have fun with your Corvette. :yesnod:

65Z01 gave you some good advice. Stick with that.
I would definitely recommend a different tire. I had ZERO luck with those BFG KDWs in terms of hookup with the SuperRammed 350. I can only imagine what you'll see with a 383. Pick up some Drag Radials to help you with the launches and have a great time!
Wow, with that 383 AND Nitrous..I don't think you're going to be able to get MUCH traction IF any at all, on those street tires. I would just go out there and have fun. Don't really worry too much about your E.T.. What you wanna be concerned about, is your mph. With that kinda setup, you should be able to trap around 120mph. Good luck!
Guys, I do have BFG Drag Radials, but the KDW's were such a bear to put on, I'm waiting for a second set of rims to put the DR's on. I've never seen a tire go on so hard in my life as the KDW's. I'm not sure why, but wow!
I'll let everyone know. I don't expect to hook up very well.
On a side note, I had a G-Tech and was playing around with it once and the best time I had was as if I was in town with a cop beside me when I was launching. I couldn't come out of the hole under any acceleration or the tires would go up in smoke.
