Default Drag race prep -

I removed my convertible soft top. That thing is HEAVY! 40lbs? Removed trim rings and caps. Those things are incredibly light :( (5lbs TOTAL?) I almost put them back on.... but it is rolling weight, so what the heck..
Adjusted my throttle cable - there might have been a tiny bit of slack, but now I am more likely to snap the bracket off when I floor it . I also changed the attaching point to the other hole on the bracket which is farther forward. (for those of you with Qjets that know what I am talking about)
I stepped my primary jets down a notch, from 74 to 73. I think I was running just a tiny bit rich. Installed K&N air filter. I have had one for a long time, but forgot to even put it on the last time at the strip. That's good for an additional .0034 hp (dyno proven) , isn't it? :)
I will try to remember to add some race gas at the track. My 68 L-36 is borderline. 10.5:1 stock compression. Doesn't need high octane, but I think it likes it. Hope to find some place to stash my 30 lb tool bag at the track  Don't want to leave home without it. MJ

MJ:
I'm not sure about your track but at PRP they won't let you run with trim rings or center caps so it's good that you removed them. They are afraid that they could possibly fly off during a blast down the 1/4 mile. Whenever I race down at Keystone I remove my air cleaner assembly all together. It is wise to take tools...I usually take the majority of my garage with me :D .

Good luck and have fun!

I have thought about dropping it at the track. It's a bit of a pain, but mainly I think I would lose in traction what I gain by dropping weight, ie I am removing weight that is directly over the rear wheels. (and I don't carry a jack. Spare is for crash protection only, will never be put on the car) MJ
