Swapping D36 to D44?

Swapping D36 to D44?
I'm planning on buying a D44 for my 89 C4 in the near future and I wanna know What's interchangeable between these 2 rears? I know the batwing and center section are different as are the torque arm and Dshaft, but what about the spindles or axles, spring mounts? Do I have to buy a complete rear with trailing arms and spring etc.. or are these parts interchangeable with my current D36? :confused:
