I just got a set of used BFG 315 35 17 comp TA drag radials on 17x12 CCWs. There is hardly any tread on these things and the center pretty much looks like a slick. How do you know when they are no longer safe to run at the track?
I bought them more for the wheels than the tires, but I would like to get a few decent passes in on this set before replacing them.
I can’t wait to see what these things feel like at the track. I’ll be testing them out as soon as I get my line lock installed (which is a real pain on a ’02 c5).
Re: New Drag radial user. When do you replace them? (QuickSilver2002)
They're safe to use at the track after they're bald, you can use them till the chords show.
If you drive to and front the track with them, I wouldn't drive on them bald.
Keep in mind, even when new, there isn't much tread at all.
