Default New Bests!

Did a few little tweaks to the chip for this weekends events and yielded some new bests.

The weather was also comparable to the frist time we went out earlier in the season , with DAs around 800-1000 ft.

I yielded new best ETs in both the 1/8 mile, and 1/4.

Here is breakdown of my slips.

R/T .523
60 1.519 (blahhh where was my 1.4x, from the last week)
330 4.517
1/8 7.038 (New Best!)
MPH 96.42
1000 9.238
1/4 11.11sec ( New Best!)
MPH 121.21

Well if I could have put the 60' together with the big end yesterday I would have been really knocking on 10s door. Just couldn't get it though. Surprising as the guys that were with me, watching me in the eliminations, said without a doubt I am carrying both front tires off the ground about 4", and out about 3-4 ft. But still I feel it slipping a little here and there.

We'll get it, it only a matter of time before I get this monkey off my back. I KNOW a converter change to about 3800-4200 RPM would put me there instantly. Corkvette1 upgraded his and is yeilding some UNREAL 60' times. And also some ungodly ETs yesterday. I will let him break the news to you all though

It was a great day of racing, went 3 rounds to be just edged out, before I got into the big money. Still came home with some cash winnings, in an otherwise VERY tough field.

The gains were not much, but at least they are coming. Calling vigilante in a minute or so to see what they can do for me, time wise with a stall upgrade.

Almost there. Seems like Corky was making more power than you across the board. You'd expect his 60s to be a little quicker with the looser converter (.06), but it looks like he opened the gap between you by the 1/8 (.09) and then further by the 1/4 (.13-.16). Are either of you locking the converter?

What are the differences between your cars beside the header tube size & converter? SR porting, etc.?

Ralph,

That is exactly it. We spoke of this exact thing yesterday at great lengths.

Earlier in the season, when the air was good, I was slightly ahead of Corky in the ET/MPH when we would run together.

After we changed his converter, he slingshot past me with even better 60' times and ET/MPH.

My converter is a vigilante 3200 lockup, his is a 3800 (not sure what brand (think TCI), non-lockup.

I truely believe that the converter is the only difference between the cars. It gains it at the 60' time, then is able to maintain it throughout.

Last time we raced at dragway, we where both hookin very well, me 1.49s him 1.46s. When we ran elims against one another I treed his a little .499 light to his .6xx. But the whole way down we stayed dead nuts equal distance. So i think both cars pull the same. But we are really only talking .16 sec difference, so i wouldn't expect the difference to be real noticable even if there is one.

Yesterday he nialed a 1.45 to my best 1.51sec =>so hes .06 quicker in the 60', which is HUGE at least I think. I suspect if I could have got that same 60' action, I would have been at possibly a 10.98 or so, so he's still a tad quicker. But that might be car weight or who the heck knows.

I am going to upgrade my converter to at a min 3800stall, but am leaning more towards 4200, for if we go to the single plane intake, that is going to do nothing but help.

From what the spectors said, my dad, a friend, and a few others watching. Both Corky and I are CLEARLY pulling the front end of the cars off the ground, and what they said is it looks about dead even the same.

I am 1/2 tempted to buy a new set of slicks before the year is out. Just drives you nuts the more ya talk about it. lol  Its there I just need to find it. Gains come each time I go, so its only a matter of time.

Dave, Vigilante offers a free stall upgrade for nothing more than the cost of shipping. So I will probably try that and see how it goes.

Thanks though! You are the parts LORD! :lolg:

Nice run, Glade your getting back in the grove!! Coan non-lockup gave me 1.38 60' with my 90. They are a little pricey but well worth it. Ric

Power Shifter,
I'm with you, Coan's are great, yesterday I had my first 1.37 backed up by a couple of 1.38-39s.

jesse 3200 stall lock up mine 3600-3800 stall no lock up
my super ram professionally ported his super ram he ported
maybe my car about 50 lbs lighter because of 85 compared to 89 the difference would be in the antilock brake equipmant thats about all i can think of
