.. should I run in my 165R15 tires at the track?? It says 32 psi maximum pressure.. but I'm thinking in going higher than that.. Does anybody have experience with those tires? Is it safe to run higher pressure than that??
I assume you're talking about the front tires?
I run a Mickey Thompson 26" x 7" on a 3.5"-wide wheel on my '79 Z28; have run as much as 40+ PSI to 'adjust' RTs for eliminations.
WHATEVER you do, make sure your tires can handle the weight of your car.
I know guys who run 'VW-tires', 'front-runners', 'skinnies', etc., on cars with VERY heavy nose-weights.
My Z28 probably goes 2200+ pounds on the fronts; the MTs I have are made SPECIFICALLY for 'heavy' cars.
No sense in 'blowing-out' a front at speed due to incorrect tire-useage...

Why do you run front's higher?
You drop the rear PSI to increase your 'foot-print' slightly; all your fronts do is hold the car off the ground, and allow you to steer.
By raising/lowering the front PSI, you can (minutely) adjust the rolling-resistence to quicken/slow-down your initial 'move', or Reaction Time in bracket-racing...

more PSI in the front = less rolling resistence = lower ETs.

I see lots of cars with more weight than mine running the same tires... Some of them even run 9's...
