Re: 10.99 ROLL CAGE UPDATE (bobby-rollbar)
mackey, i guess you didnt read what i putin post so im putting it here for u[ .ok guys like i said i just got off the phone with Kurt at the Div 1 NHRA office and as of today the rule[from 10-23 nhra site] is correct T Top cars that run 10.99 or quicker are required to have a cage in them ,they have not been told by anybody that this is incorrect ,as they just got the ruling so as far as Div 1 and Bob Lange goes ,as of today .the rule is in going into effect for 04,,He will fax or call me if there is a change before new year gets here .] thnx bob
no where am i advertizing, nor am i solliciting,i was replying to your post that the rule was untrue,as of that mon as far as div 1 hdgtrs was concerned its still going into effect,as with anything else nhra does it still could not go in but because i have been building cars for 20 yrs, it is my bussiness to checkon the rules ,and i am a sponser on fast ls1 thats why my add is there,no where on this site or any other do i ask for work, this is a rule for safety, sorry u dont like it but you need to take that up with nhra, before u bash me u should at least talk to me thnx bob

Sorry if I over reacted but to quote anyone the the Div 1 office is a waste of tiome, Both Bob and Kurts attitude on this hole matter stinks, they could care less about the sportman racer or the bracket racer, like we're a waste of their time. When I ask for an explaination they couldn't/ or wouldn't try, they said "read the web site".
If you want to help you can ask them how the requirements and be greater for a t-top car than a convt?? or call NHRA headquarters ans see what story they give you.
I'm all for safety of our drivers but NHRA HAS TO DO A BETTER JOB OF THINKING THROUGH THIER RULES BEFORE THE POST THEM.
mackey, belive me after dealing with nhra for over 20 yrs i agree with you sometimes the left and right hand dont know what their doing, thats why i said if things change they will let me know ,unfortunatly for them to drop that on everyone then basicly shut the california office down for about 2 weeks is pretty much the way things are done at nhra so they leave their div head quaters to take the flack till they get back,if this is not going thru like i said they will let me know when they get notification. and a convertable rule is stricter, pge 24 -03 rule book 10.99or 135 mph, right now they only made the rule for t top cars [if it goes thru] 10.99 or quicker ,i hope we find out soon as i spend more time on phone and computer trying to explain as far as Div 1 is concerned its a rule, but because of what you wrote theres always the chance that it might be resinded, thats why tell most to wait its for next season anyway so a few more weeks wont make a difference . thnx bob :steering:

Re: 10.99 ROLL CAGE UPDATE (bobby-rollbar)
Bob, to us it makes a huge difference. I can't think guys will put bars through their dash of a $45,000 car it be legal to win $250. As I said I believe in safety bit let take a real wold look before we make a rule.
mackey ,i agree with you ,ask major spray i spent 3 weeks telling him go get another car [,even though im not a corvette guy]before we cut up a ZO6 ,but he wanted to race that car ,and belive me NHRA [as u know ]dosnt care what car cost if thats the body they[the custermer] choses to race and they go that fast ,the owner has to make a choice, slow down, get another car, run IHRA, and paul made the desision to run the ZO6 and because it was the first one [full street car ] to be certed at div 1 it was a nightmare and time consuming waiting for them to decide how we were going to do it ,so that it could get done in time for the race he had to go to,you do have to to alot of cutting behind seats and frnt floor as they want it on outriggers in that car,and for ease of getting in and out[and stength] it should go through dash[but it can go in front of dash but it doesnt look as good and is a pain to get in and out of],but he still has his air and everything else works, belive me these cars are one of the worst to do, at the next meet take alook at his car you really cant tell from outside theres a cage in it and it has 2 swingbars thnx bob :steering:
date line,11-10-03, 4.10 pm,well here we go again ,Kurt just called from Div 1 hdqtrs and said even though they havent been notified, in the new national drgstr issue44,vol44,nov 14th issue, bottom of page 5 ,it appears now their[nhra] not changeing rule for 04 ,concerning T top cars ,lets hope they got it right this time , ,and that were done with this bob

I received the November 14th issue of National Dragster today. On page 5 as a part of an article titled "Additional rules changes announced for 2004", the last sentence reads "On T-top-design vehicles with an unaltered firewall, floor, and body and running between 10.00 and 10.99, a roll bar is permitted in place of a roll cage."
