Default 2003 Report Card

How happy are you with your performance in 2003 or how would you grade your performance?

In spite of the many curveballs I had this year and am happy with being able to finish in the Top 10 of the Corvette Challenge. (A-)
I am disappointed I was not able to get my first win the Heavy on Sundays (3 tries). (F)
I was elated to get a round win in the Super Chevy Show. (B)
Depressed with the hydro-locked engine warmed by the generosity of the Lewis family and support of Eckler's loaning me a car and extremely grateful for Ernie and Danny making sure I was okay getting back. (A+)
Heartbroken when the trans broke mid track but elated when Carmen and company turned the car around for me in time to make the next race and get the Event win.(A++)

I finished the season season strong with a slight improvement in winning percentage and reaction time average and went to the finals in my last three races. I am psyched for next year and can't wait!!!!!!

I am very happy with 2003

Performance??? After 28 years of driving and working on cars, 2003 was a great learning year for my first year of autocross.

Learned about this forum -- A+

Read lots of books -- B+

Improved each time I raced, from 65th in 1st autox to 6th overall in last -- A-

Had as much fun as I've ever legally had -- A+

Not a bad year....

:steering:

Reflecting on the last year I feel like I got an advanced degree in drag/bracket racing....this was my also my first year drag racing ever...I'd have to say I'm very happy with my progress so far...

I did not win a Challenge event, but...D+
I made it to the finals in one event and...A
I did go enough rounds to finish 5th in points for the year...A+
I won Best Package at one Challenge...A
I went 4 rounds in the Gulf Coast Chevy Shootout...B+
I went 4 rounds in the Big Turkey Bracket Bash...B+
I went 4 rounds in the SLP Appreciation Day event...B
Lastly, I drove to and from every event, had 218 passes for the year, and never broke once...AA+

I have said it here before but I'll say it again...thanks to everyone who put up with my pestering and incessant questions in my desire to improve....I made a lot of new friends through drag racing and this forum, and they are the best...AAA+

I still have a lot to learn but I look forward to next season and an even better report in 12 months...

Oops...I forgot to grade my report card..all fixed.. :D

I also have to say that I did have an exciting year. I raced in two classes. I raced in the Corvette Challenge and in Heavy points on Sunday.
Was the CC fun and exciting? A+
Do I think the people that race and sponsor this event are fun to be around?
YES B+
There are many drivers in the CC series that are serious and have a lot of wheel time under there belts to make the racing for of a challenge. I am glad that I was able to finish in the top ten. I feel that the CC is a well organized and operated in a very professional manor.
Do I see room for improvement?
None (Bigger Pay Out)
My overall grade for the Corvette Challenge is an A-.
I feel that is very high score and everybody that is involved with the CC should be proud. I race all over the East Coast with the NMRA and other Ford events to make my decision. I am comparing this event with others that I have participated in.
My hat (Helmet :D ) is off to the people that have made this series a great enjoyable event. :flag

Interesting topic.

As a racer I had a bad year, nowhere near the 8 elininator wins I had in 2002 but after spending most of the season on the sidelines with 3 operations, I'm just happy to be here thinking about 2004. Grade A

As for the Corvette Challenge series, we have grown faster than i could have ever imagined, To Tracy, Arnie and Gary for your super jobs a big A+.

To my own EastCoast Supercharging Corvette Challenge staff , An A+ to Dennis, Bob T. , Nick, Harry, and to Chris, Doug and all our wonderful sponsors another A+, we could not race without your support.

To Edgar, What can you say about Edgar that he hasn't already said himself :lolg:
Seriously, Edgar job has been second to none, AA+ but we still need to work on Promotor first racer second only an A.

To the Corvette Forum , Troy and Frank (MrMojo) A+ on your support of the Corvette challenges and to allowing Frank and I to establish the first Corvette Forum National Drag Racing Champion an A+

To all our racers an A+ for your didication and improvement.

So as you can see to me 2003 was an A+++ YEAR. 2004 will start on January 10, at our Banquet with racing starting in March, It will be another AAAA+++++++ YEAR.

2003 was a good year (A-). I did not have any late round wins, but did move from 39th place in 2002 to 18th place in points in 2003. I made it to the final four in the top 16. I,m looking forward to 2004.

In all seriousness John, I do not believe that the Corvette Challenge would be what it is in NJ at E-Town or Nationally if it wasn't for Edgar!

I truly believe that as passionate as he is with his racing, he is even more passionate about promoting the Corvette Challenge. From what I see alone; his devotion to the ECS Web page (designer, writer, editor , publisher, sponsor, etc), his support of the various other Corvette Challenge Web Pages, the trips to FL to support that Challenge, passing out flyers at all the events, using his car as a display at E-Town for various functions (ie Halloween), working the tent at the show and go, numerous emails and letters to the various Car magazines and resulting mention in articles in said magazines (National Dragster etc) and all the things I am probably not aware of, Edgar does a great job promoting.

Edgar is an easy going guy and sometimes this makes it easy to pick on him. Unfortunately, all this picking gets in the way of giving him his fair do. I would just like to stop for a moment and give a BIG THANK YOU TO EDGAR for his dedication, sponsorship, marketing, promotion and advancement of the Corvette Challenge!

Bill, I couldn't agree more, Edgar has taken every task I've thrown at him and done a super job. I sometimes think he does way to much and thats why I've brought Harry and Nick onboard to start grooming to take on some of that responsibility. As you know with any business when you fine a mule you ride him till he drops, I'm trying no to do that with Edgar because I do fear Burnout when we over do anything that takes alot of work. He puts in a trememdous amount of time and energy and in most cases has been a driving force that has made this series as great as it is.
I could never thank him enough.
