C4 automatic conversion questions
Anyone have info on auto conversions for the ZR1? Something in the drivetrain let go this morning on my usual 140mph. sunday drive. I'm getting a little sick of getting this ZF6 re-built. If it's the tranny, I'm considering going to an automatic.
Q's: Are there any shops you would recommend for a conversion?, or that sell a kit to do the changeover?
What trans would be the best for a street driven car, and still be tough enough for regular 1/4 mi. activity.
What stall speed converter would be the best for a motor that has peak torque at 5,800, and is usually shifted at 7000?

I'm not too sure on the details, but it can be done. Norm Koerner has a ZR1 with a Lingenfelter powerplant. It has an auto tranny. I'm sure if you posted on the zr1 board, maybe He could help you out.
Yes, re-building trannies all the time is not fun. Makes you a little gunshy of constantly stabbing the pedal after a while.
