I am watching the Barrett-Jackson auction on the speed channel & saw a 54 Vette sell for $100,000
I know this is not Drag related but I spend 99% of my time here.. I only posted it cause I thought it would be interesting,
Also a COPO Camaro with a 427 sold for $82,000 ! It had documented 8,000 miles on it.. What AWESOME cars they are selling, also They will be selling a Nitro Funny Car.. & an original Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins Pro Stock.
The auction just ended for today and Chevy had the top five prices.. ..highest was a 67 vert...427/435 motor which went for $135,000... :D ...a 69 Camaro Z28 was second at $112,000... ...btw, the same guy that bought the Camaro bought the Vette for $100K... he's a Chevy dealer..must be nice... :p:

Central Office Production Option.
CORRECT (CLOSE ENOUGH)
COPO The letters have been variously reported to stand for "corporate office production option" or "central office purchase order" within GM for ordering special
vehicles for special purposes (usually police cars, ambulances, limousines and such). But a few runs of COPO cars such as the L72-powered (COPO No. 9561) and ZL1- powered (COPO No. 9560) '69 Camaros were performance models. COPO cars contrast with regular production options, which were ordered under "RPO." If you wanted a 427 in a Nova, this was how you got it
Speaking of ZL-1's, a guy was selling a black 63 split window at the NCRS show yesterday...he wants $100,000 for it...it is different than other split windows though...it has a documented (#27) ZL-1 engine in it... ...oh yeah..it is also set up for the drags/street with a Ford 9 " rear, giant slicks, 4l80 trans and on and on...I was lusting big time...

Actually, I think more of these kinds of cars were assembled by various Chevy performance dealers around the country than actual COPO orders. Nickey Chevrolet, in Chicago, Baldwin Chevrolet, Long Island, Berger Chevrolet, Grand Rapids, Yenko, etc. All took new production cars and performed engine swaps, before they were sold, new. While the dealer modified NEW cars have great collector interest and value, I think it is the COPO cars, actually built at the factory, that are the rarest and most valuable.
Hey John, here I am racing a '54 at Cruise In I in Bowling Green, we raced heads up, I beat him by 5 seconds. That guy(George) did everything, but everyone else to shame, he drove the car from Michigan to Kentucky, drag raced it,autocrossed it and strapped it to the dyno(lost his brakes, but got it fixed), then drove it home. He is a true enthusiast.
I have literaly raced EVERTHING I have ever owned, and some folks think I am  for racing both my C5s & my 68' Camaro.........If I every do get a high dollar car I will damn skippy race it too! :yesnod:
We have also been watchin...........1 Callaway fan on there for sure
