I can't get enough of this show, all 15 hours of coverage this weekend.....
Anyway, Reeves Callaway brought 4 rides to the auction and were all purchased by the same guy!
Super Speedster based off the mid 90's went for $185,000
1988 Sledghammer (254.76 mph record) went for $205,000
1997 C12 went for somewhere around 135k.... dont remember
1999 C7R with Diablo doors went for 200 grand
a 700 grand investment by that guy, how about that!
top bid so far is 400,000 dollar 30-something Lincoln Zephyr
also Tim Allen bid 70k+ for a blown old Chevy truck completely restored.... late 1940's maybe?
pretty cool stuff... especially after a nice boring 5 hour trip taking the SAT in Howell lol

Re: Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction (89NYFINESTVETTE)
Wierd thing Sat. night.
I'm watching the show as the '63 vette race car come up.
Camera goes between the two bidders.
As the camera focuses in on the guy that eventually bought it, I see a friend of mine talking to this guy, acting as a consultant, if you will.
I knew he was a respected vette restorer, but it just sort of blew me away as he was on camera for about 2-3 minutes.
Lots of japanese buyers again as the dollar is low now. That is what makes some of the prices mind-boggling these buyers don't know the real market and the feeding frenzy of bidding makes the prices go out of sight for some of these classics. The Linclon Zephyr is a one of a kind car that could have easily gone for 500k or as little as 100k. Not a good show-auction to predict future prices on the car market as a whole. But for some of the sellers it was like hitting the lottery. :hurray:
