I'm trying to get my old Sun Tachomter to work. The 1.35 volt mercury batteries in the transmitter are dead and I'm not having any luck finding a replacement set. The batteries are Mallory RM 12 R.
Yeah, it's been a couple of years but they didn't have anything. Somebody suggested I take 1.5 volt batteries and run them down to the value I need. That might be the easy way out unless I can find a source for the originals.
I found some places that repair old Sun tachs on Hemmings Motor news's sight. If the link don't work search for Sun Tachs on their page. They may be some help if you E-mail them. http://www.hemmings.com/index.cfm/fu...TOKEN=21602847
If you do a search for 1.35v battery there is a bunch of hits that come up regarding replacements for the mercury ones especially in cameras. Camera stores seem to sell the replacements for devices to adapt.
Thanks Chris and Rich. The batteries are AA sized and it doesn't appear the adaptor approach will work. FWIW I installed 1.5 volt batteries instead of the 1.35. I seems to work okay. Calibration may be off but it looks/sounds, close at lower engine speeds.
The Williams web site reworks the tachs so there is no need to have batteries. I just did want to go that route right now.
